Natural Resource Preservation Working Group

Purpose

The Natural Resource Preservation Working Group provides a collaborative platform for member companies to address environmental challenges, develop actionable solutions, and lead industry efforts in sustainability. Through unified engagement, the group helps AmCham Kurdistan advocate for impactful policies, facilitate community initiatives, and represent the collective voice of businesses invested in environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

The Natural Resource Preservation Working Group aims to drive meaningful change by uniting businesses to shape sustainable policies and foster public-private collaboration. Through its advocacy, consensus-building, and actionable initiatives, the group will advance environmental stewardship and contribute to a thriving, sustainable economy in Kurdistan Region.

Activities of the Working Group fall into the following categories:

  • Support Local Sustainability Efforts: Assist businesses in overcoming challenges related to sustainability practices, focusing on local solutions for resource management, waste reduction, and energy efficiency.
  • Address Import Barriers: Identify strategies to reduce reliance on imported sustainable goods and materials by promoting local supply chains, resource recycling, and sustainable product development.
  • Tackle Expat Quotas: Advocate for increased flexibility in expat quotas for sustainability-related expertise, ensuring that key roles are filled by individuals with the necessary skills.
  • Foster Collaboration: Create an environment where businesses, government entities, and NGOs can share resources, knowledge, and ideas to develop innovative, scalable solutions.
