"I also welcome our honored guest Acting U.S. Consul General Chahrazed Sioud. As you know, the U.S. Consulate Erbil, under the U.S. Mission in the Region, has been a partner at every level of Kurdistan's growth."

"This partnership is built on an honorable friendship that resonates between the American and Kurdish people. It is the people that bond us in our hearts. It is the innovative nature of our countries that connects our partnership."

He underlined that AmCham Kurdistan is paving the path to promoting more American investment in the Kurdistan Region. "We are here to make it happen. It takes steps; for example, we have raised the discussion of expanding the U.S. CG (Consul General) posting beyond the current one-year assignment, as many of you have voiced to me."

He underlined that Kurdistan Region's business community is alive with innovation. "It provides the U.S. investor an opportunity to invest with purpose; by investing in Kurdistan, you're investing in the stability of the Region. So tonight is an opportunity for you to empower your voice."

"I look forward to working with you to make those connections with U.S. investors and see the growth expand. The potential is each of you, and the U.S. is supporting and partnering with you every step," he added.

Acting U.S. Consul General Chahrazed Sioud thanked AmCham Kurdistan and the leadership of AmCham Kurdistan President, Dori F.Abouzeid.

"Your leadership continues to make AmCham a key pillar of our community here, and the American Consulate is proud to have you as one of our most important partners."

"Indeed, strengthening the economic partnership between the United States and the Iraqi Kurdistan Region is one of the American Consulate's top priorities."

"AmCham plays a crucial role as our partner in this effort by supporting the American business community's endeavors in the region and advocating for a climate that encourages investment," she said.

Earlier this year, in June, AmCham Kurdistan held its first annual networking reception. "(This) put AmCham Kurdistan on the map as an important private sector stakeholder in the region, but it signaled recovery from the (COVID-19) pandemic and readiness to promote more American investments in the region," she said.

"I would love to see even more American investment in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, and there is much work to be done.

Therefore, she said the U.S. would continue to encourage economic reform within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to foster a more business-friendly climate and a diversified and inclusive private sector, where U.S. companies can flourish. "And AmCham is and will remain key to these efforts."

In closing, she thanked "all of the members of the AmCham for your tireless work to promote the interests of American companies in the Kurdistan Region. You have important work to do and the American Consulate's support."
